Elysia Xfilter 500

The xfilter 500 is a true Class-A stereo equalizer in the 500 Series format, designed to deliver premium sound quality in an ultra-compact package.

Thanks to its stepped potentiometers, computer-selected film capacitors, and rigorously symmetrical design, it guarantees a perfect stereo image and exceptional accuracy.

Extremely musical and versatile, the xfilter 500 combines flexible active filters, parametric mid-range bands, and a dedicated passive LC stage for high frequencies. Its sonic openness, transient response, and punchy response make it an ideal partner for mixing, recording, and mastering—especially alongside the renowned xpressor, but also with any other high-quality equipment.

Resonant High-Pass and Low-Pass Filters

The Low and High bands can operate as either low shelf/high shelf filters or be independently switched to resonant high-pass or low-pass filters (12 dB/octave).

Quick adjustment of signal profile and airiness

Resonant low-pass filter ideal for adding punch to bass

Resonance in the high frequencies allows you to emphasize a specific frequency without boosting the entire HF spectrum

Parametric mid-range bands with switchable Q

The xfilter 500 features two parametric mid-range bands, each with a switchable Q factor:

Wide Q (0.5) for smooth, musical corrections

Narrow Q (1.0) for more targeted processing

This intentionally limited selection prioritizes musicality. Ultra-surgical corrections are left to digital equalizers, while the xfilter 500 excels in analog sound shaping.

Passive LC high-frequency band – “Passive Massage”

In addition to the four active bands, the xfilter 500 incorporates a switchable passive LC filter dedicated to high frequencies.

Resonance peak at 12 kHz

Natural inductor saturation concentrated in the useful range

Individually shielded coils to eliminate hum and unwanted noise

Each potentiometer in the xfilter 500 is measured, tested, and selected using Audio Precision equipment and dedicated computer routines to ensure identical response on the left and right channels.
