Avantone Mixcube RED Active - la pareja
Originally inspired by the old 5C sound cubes, Avantone MixCubes have quickly become an industry standard in studios around the world, establishing themselves as the best-selling loudspeakers in their class.
Active Monitors for Recording and Mixing
Avantone’s active MixCubes are designed as compact, high-resolution reference monitors, ideal for fixed or mobile studios. When developing them, Avantone Pro sought to combine a timeless design with a unique full-range transducer.
A Single Performance Goal
While most studios use 2- or 3-way monitors for high-volume reference listening, it is crucial to evaluate a mix on smaller systems with limited bass response, such as TVs, clock radios, computers or car stereos. This allows the mix to be judged without the tonal distortions caused by crossovers or average quality speakers. The crossover-free MixCubes deliver exceptional midrange accuracy, essential for vocals, guitars and keyboards.
After ten months of research and development, comparative listening and tuning, Avantone MixCubes deliver a smooth and balanced sound. Compared to the original 5C Sound Cubes, they offer a more open and transparent high-end response, with more extended bass, while preserving their distinctive sonic character.
Cabinet Design
The original 5C Sound Cubes™ were made from 12.7mm particle board. Avantone chose to use a thicker, denser MDF for its rigidity and low resonance. The enclosure is a 165mm sealed cube with rounded edges, finished in a glossy “RETRO-CREAM” polyurethane.
Unlike previous models with plastic binding posts, the MixCubes feature solid nickel-plated metal binding posts on a black anodized aluminum plate. A 7mm thick neoprene pad is integrated into the base for non-slip acoustic isolation, while a standard microphone stand mount is provided for versatile mounting options.
Speaker Design
The original models used a stamped 5-inch frame, but Avantone developed a proprietary 5.25-inch die-cast aluminum driver for superior performance. The paper cone, custom-made from New Zealand paper pulp with mica fibers for lightness and rigidity, ensures exceptional musical sound.
The fabric surround is produced in Japan to exacting standards, while the magnetic components are made from low-carbon Sumitomo 1008 steel, providing optimum flux density. The Y-40 grade magnet (MIL-SPEC) provides high power and low distortion for faithful sound reproduction.
Amplifier Design
The amplifier module has been designed from the ground up to deliver professional quality without compromise. With a careful selection of components, it guarantees high reliability and optimal management of high sound levels, rivaling high-end studio amplifiers.
In summary, Avantone MixCubes combine careful design, remarkable sound performance and versatility of use, making them an essential reference for mixing and recording professionals.
