Adam SUB-8-PRO
Combining an advanced DSP with powerful low-frequency reproduction, the Sub8 PRO provides a solid foundation for stereo and multichannel monitoring. Part of our latest generation of networked subwoofers, it combines an 8-inch long-throw woofer with an FEA-optimized bass port and a high-performance Class D amplifier to deliver perfectly controlled bass.
The rear panel of the Sub8 PRO offers a full range of professional connectivity and control options. In addition to precise phase and crossover filter adjustment, it features an AES3 digital input/output, balanced analog inputs/outputs via XLR and TRS, and a dedicated footswitch input for enabling or bypassing bass management.
Network connectivity offers numerous management and calibration options via ADAM Control, the dedicated software for networked ADAM Audio products. Users can time-align the subwoofer, fine-tune its response using four bands of parametric EQ, and run Sonarworks correction profiles directly on its integrated platform. ADAM Control also supports firmware updates, which will allow new features to be added to the subwoofer in the future.
The Sub8 PRO offers three operating modes to accommodate different monitoring applications. Stereo mode provides simple routing for traditional 2.1 systems, while the dedicated LFE setting is optimized for immersive workflows such as Dolby Atmos. Wide mode enables full-bandwidth reproduction, offering great flexibility for equalization at other stages of the signal chain.
This cutting-edge technology is housed in a sturdy wooden cabinet, featuring a robust metal grille that protects the 10-inch woofer. Designed for long-term use, the Sub8 PRO comes with a 2-year warranty, which can be extended to 5 years by registering the product.
Automated Acoustic Correction via Sonarworks
The Sub8 PRO is designed to complement ADAM Audio’s Sonarworks-compatible A-Series speaker lineup. It incorporates a DSP platform within the subwoofer enclosure capable of hosting advanced filters created in SoundID Reference. Using Sonarworks and a measurement microphone, you can easily calibrate stereo and multichannel systems featuring the A-Series and the Sub8 PRO.
High-Performance Woofer
At the heart of the Sub8 Pro is its long-excursion, low-distortion woofer. Made from fiber-reinforced paper, the cone is further reinforced by an elastic rubber surround that allows for considerable excursion while maintaining its mechanical integrity. The precision geometry of the ferrite magnet system is complemented by demodulation rings that stabilize the voice coil’s inductance. The careful design of the woofer extends to the advanced ventilation of all moving parts to minimize unwanted noise.
Digital Connectivity
The AES3 standard is a professional standard for digital audio transmission between interfaces and speakers. The Sub8 PRO’s AES3 input and output connectors can both carry 2 channels of digital audio with a resolution of up to 24 bits and a sampling rate of 96 kHz. By keeping the signal in the digital domain, the number of conversions required is reduced, and higher-quality sound can be transmitted over longer distances.
Powerful Amplification and Reliable DSP
The Sub8 PRO is equipped with a Class D amplifier that powers the subwoofer highly efficiently at any listening volume. An intelligent limiter works in tandem with the amplifier, allowing the subwoofer to be driven to its limits while continuously protecting the circuitry and mechanical components. The amplifier and limiter are managed by DSP-based electronics featuring consistent audio filters, crossover filters, and equalization. Signal conversion is handled by audiophile-grade converters, carefully selected by ADAM Audio to deliver exceptional performance.
FEA-Optimized Bass Port
Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is a computer simulation tool that was used to model the airflow through the Sub8 PRO’s bass port. By creating thousands of samples of its surface and analyzing the effect of the forces acting on it, it was possible to calculate the most effective curvature, flaring, and effective length for the port. This allowed us to achieve more uniform air velocities along the entire length of the port, which significantly reduces turbulence and results in impressive sound pressure levels (SPL).
Ready for Multichannel
In addition to the Sonarworks platform for multichannel calibration, the Sub8 PRO offers two operating modes specifically designed for immersive audio. LFE mode features a specially designed 120 Hz cutoff, in accordance with Dolby’s recommendations for LFE channels in Atmos systems. “Wide” mode allows the subwoofer to reproduce the full frequency range, offering maximum flexibility for managing bass elsewhere in the system.
Industrial Design Made in Berlin, Rugged Cabinet and Grill
The Sub8 PRO features ADAM Audio’s classic design, with a speckled finish on the port and a harmonious curve to the cabinet. The cabinet is constructed from thick, vibration-resistant MDF, which helps reduce unwanted resonances. Additional reinforcements support the port, and the woofer is equipped with a steel grille that protects it when placed under a desk. The Sub8 PRO comes with a 2-year warranty, extendable to 5 years upon product registration.
