Thorpyfx The Fat General Compressor MKII

Manufactured in the United Kingdom using high-performance components, the THORPYFX The Fat General Compressor MKII is an analog compressor for electric guitar developed in collaboration with Dan Coggins, founder of the Lovetone and Dinosaural pedal brands.
Inspired by the popular Dinosaural Opticompressor OTC-201, the ThorpyFX The Fat General offers two modes (Juicy and Blend) and employs a parallel compression architecture that allows the direct signal to be blended with the signal processed by the circuit. This process, common in professional recording studios, preserves the instrument’s attack and natural dynamics while optimizing the sound’s density and sustain.
Its ability to thicken the signal and enhance its presence and definition—without distortion, pumping effects, or unwanted noise—means you can leave the pedal engaged at all times.
This flexibility ensures that the Fat General MKII offers maximum compatibility with a wide range of musical genres: Blues, Rock, Pop, Country, Reggae, Funk...

The ThorpyFX Fat General MKII offers two complementary modes.
The Juicy circuit blends approximately 90% compressed signal with 10% direct signal. It generates a generous, dense, warm, and consistent compression that works wonderfully for arpeggios, funk grooves, and leads.
The Blend circuit lets you balance the direct signal and the compressed signal to your liking. This allows you to control the dynamics with great precision, thickening the sound while preserving the articulation of the notes and the nuances of your playing.
