Hiwatt Filter Fuzz MkII
's HIWATT Filter Fuzz MkII pedal
is a 100% analog, vintage-style fuzz pedal that lets you achieve the signature tones of the 1960s. It specifically replicates the sound produced by the combination of a Musicraft Messenger guitar and the Heathkit Fuzz pedal—a pairing closely associated with Mark Farner, guitarist and singer for Grand Funk Railroad (on the 1969 album *Grand Funk*).The Filter Fuzz MkII thus reinterprets Mark Farner’s wild, thick, organic, and abrasive fuzz—with its strong tendency toward feedback—enriched with smart features.
Thanks to its efficient controls—notably its three-position rotary switch, which offers different bass-filtering options to highlight the mids— it is capable of producing thick, creamy distortion, incisive and aggressive fuzz, as well as more unique tones featuring gated fuzz, spitty fuzz, and harmonics reminiscent of an octave higher.
