Hiwatt Custom 20 Combo

The Custom 20 is a Class A "cathode bias" amp designed to deliver its full character in the overdrive realm. Capable of the magnificent, very pure clean tones that are the strength of Hiwatt amps, it is also perfect for use with effects pedals, which it enhances with its elegant, natural compression.

Its contained power combined with its compact size make it an ideal amp for studio or intimate performances.

Unlike more powerful Hiwatt amps, which tend to maintain a pristine clean sound at high volumes, the Custom 20 invites you to push its gain control all the way to 12 o'clock to reveal a rich and natural drive sound at a usable volume.

In its sweet spot, which is at or just beyond the saturation of the clean sound, it feels like an easy-to-play, inspiring amp that provides immediate playing pleasure. This plug-and-play model has the unique ability to accentuate the personality of each guitar it's played with while retaining the Hiwatt charisma. Its distinctive style therefore depends on the instrument it's paired with and generously rewards the extreme EQ settings necessary to get the most out of the ensemble. It's so effective that it's almost an instrument in its own right.

Like other Hiwatt amps, it features Harry Joice's distinctive military-grade wiring. It is also equipped with the brand's beloved Partridge™ transformers and is handcrafted in England.

In this 1x12 combo version, the Custom 20 is equipped with the F25-25 watt model specially developed by Fane Acoustics™ for Hiwatt amps. With its modern design, it perfectly captures the amp's character while meeting contemporary expectations. It emphasizes the upper mids, which gives it a clear, articulate, and bitey sound, but without being harsh to the ear. It also gives the guitar a much more present feel. Once pushed to its limits, it emits a subtle saturation that helps make the guitar stand out even more in the mix.
