Fender Made in Japan Hybrid II Jazzmaster - matte aero blue satin metallic
Unveiled at the 1958 NAMM Show and initially produced through 1980, the Fender Jazzmaster was designed to offer jazz guitarists a "solid-body" alternative to the ubiquitous "archtops."
Considered a luxury model, it stands out in particular for its sophisticated control panel featuring independent Lead and Rhythm circuits, as well as specialized pickups and a “Floating Tremolo” system.
Although it wasn’t embraced by the jazz audience for which it was intended, the Jazzmaster was particularly popular among surf music enthusiasts during its early years. In the 1980s and 1990s, the Jaguar became a favorite among many American punk rock, shoegaze, and indie rock musicians.
Following the first Japanese reissues in the mid-1980s, it went back into production in an American version in 1999. It has since been offered in numerous variations under the Fender and Squier brands.
Among its most famous players are Elvis Costello, Nels Cline of Wilco, Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins, J Mascis of Dinosaur Jr., Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, Thom Yorke of Radiohead, Troy Van Leeuwen of Queens of the Stone Age, and others..
Crafted by experienced luthiers, the FENDER Limited Edition Made in Japan Hybrid II Jazzmaster (5664100398) solid body electric guitar is a reinterpretation of the original 1960s Jazzmaster, designed for contemporary guitarists.
It cleverly combines traditional features (alder body, bolt-on maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, 25.5" scale length) with more modern elements (9.5" radius, Modern C neck profile, locking tuners).
It is equipped with a pair of Fender Hybrid II Custom Voiced single-coil pickups. Its control layout has been simplified compared to the conventional Jazzmaster, featuring just a volume control, a tone control, and a three-position pickup selector switch.
Combined with classic Fender craftsmanship, these features deliver a range of sounds that are classic in the truest sense of the word—vibrant and dynamic, with precise bass, balanced mids, and clear highs.
This is an excellently crafted mid-range guitar designed for musicians looking for a reliable, high-performance instrument capable of adapting to a wide range of styles, from pop rock to blues, garage rock, and indie.
