Original, versatile, and competitive, the ASHDOWN The Saint Artisan (Aegean Flame) solid-body electric bass combines a unique aesthetic, traditional features, and more modern elements.

The instrument features a poplar body (40 mm thick) accented by a beautiful flamed maple top, a bolt-on roasted maple neck, and a roasted maple fingerboard (set with 20 stainless steel frets!). This design produces clear and dynamic acoustic tones that are rich and responsive, with precise, punchy bass, balanced mids, and crystalline highs.
Poplar is a wood considered an alternative to alder. Widely available and cost-effective, poplar is therefore often used to craft entry-level and mid-range instruments.
In addition to giving the wood an elegant patina, the roasting process improves the instrument’s stability, sustain, clarity, and resonance, while protecting it from temperature fluctuations, humidity, and mold.

The pickup set with AlNiCo V magnets consists of a J-Bass-style pickup at the bridge and a P-Bass-style pickup at the neck. They deliver dynamic, warm, and well-defined tones.
Thanks to the individual volume and master tone controls, as well as the bridge pickup’s mix control, you’ll be able to adapt to a wide range of musical styles and settings.

The Saint Artisan’s ergonomics are excellent. Its C-shaped neck profile, 350 mm radius, and optimal access to the high notes ensure a quick and comfortable feel.
