Phoenix audio Scion
The Phoenix Audio Scion is a high-end 16x6 analog summing mixer designed to bring the full dimension, depth, and musicality of analog to modern productions recorded in a digital environment. A true summing console, it goes far beyond a simple amplifier by reintroducing essential features such as analog panning, controlled saturation, and stereo width management.
Each channel is based on a discrete, transformerless Class A circuit at the input, guaranteeing extremely faithful, fast, and detailed reproduction with excellent transient response. This architecture allows for highly accurate hi-fi sound, while also offering the option to add character thanks to the Drive Technology function, which can be activated individually on each channel. This feature pushes the circuit to achieve rich and musical analog saturation.
At the output, the Scion incorporates the renowned DSOP-2 stage, coupled with custom-designed DB694 transformers, the signature sound of Phoenix Audio. This circuit offers a seamless transition between a clean sound and a more pronounced coloration, inspired by vintage British consoles. This combination allows for finely sculpting the final mix, from the most transparent to the warmest.
The Scion also features three distinct stereo buses:
Clean: an ultra-transparent, precise, and uncolored signal path
Color: transformer-based output for a rich, harmonic analog signature
Mix: a creative control allowing you to blend the two previous outputs (wet/dry type)
These outputs can be used simultaneously, enabling you to generate multiple versions of the mix in parallel—a major advantage in production and mastering.
Each channel has a stepped analog pan control, ensuring exceptional stereo placement accuracy and easy recall of settings. This type of control provides significantly greater depth and separation than a standard "in-the-box" mix.
The Scion also incorporates advanced features that have become essential in the modern studio:
Mid/Side-inspired stereo width control to widen or narrow the image
Stereo bus insert for integrating external compressors or equalizers
Independent auxiliary output for monitoring or alternative routing
Full compatibility with balanced and unbalanced signals, without any loss of level
Designed for professional environments, the Phoenix Audio Scion boasts a robust construction with military-grade PTFE silver internal wiring, ensuring optimal reliability and performance. It stands out as an ideal solution for hybrid studios seeking the best of both worlds: digital precision and analog musicality.
